WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US AT OUR ANNUAL EVENTS!
A special day for a very special group of people -- affected, at-risk, caregivers, and families of those with Huntington’s disease.
The Team Hope Walk is the Huntington's Disease Society of America's (HDSA's) largest national grassroots fundraising event. Thousands of families, friends, co-workers, neighbors and communities walk together each year to support HDSA's fight to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families.
Every year, runners and walkers from across the country raise funds and awareness for HDSA through the Tri-City Medical Center Marathon & Half in January, San Diego Half Marathon in March, and the Rock n' Roll Marathon in June.
Renato Shaffer, his daughters, Alexa and Taylor along with a handful of other riders and crew are participating in the Race Across America with the Team 2 Cure Huntington’s Disease. They are riding their bikes across America in a 3,053-mile coast-to-coast, non-stop bicycle race beginning at the pier in Oceanside, CA and ending at the Boardwalk in Annalpolis, MD.
The Team 2 Cure Huntington's Disease is a race benefitting the Huntington's Disease Society of America to raise funds and awareness in the fight against HD, which is a disease that Renato's wife Sharon suffers from as well as Alexa and Taylor their beautiful daughters have a 50/50 chance of inheriting. The race will begin on June 20th 2015 and the team hopes to beat their personal record and finish in 8 days!
Team 2 Cure HD is busy training and fundraising desperately before the race begins on June 20th. We hope that you will partner with us in this amazing feat to raise funds and awareness for HD.
Since 2002 HDSA-San Diego has put on the town’s best outdoor party, the Shoot to Cure HD!
Guests are treated to food and drinks from more than 20 of San Diego’s favorite eateries, a commemorative Shoot T-shirt, and moments they’ll never forget.
The highlight of the night is the speed-free-throw competition that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Teams of ten select five of their 10 guests to make as many free throws as possible in three minutes. Sounds simple, right? But as the party grows and beverages are consumed and the crowds gather around, crazy things seem to happen.
Every year Renato & Sharon Shaffer host their annual golf tournament to raise funds and awareness for HDSA. Sharon, who is HD-positive, Renato, her family and a cadre of dedicated committee members gather to enjoy a day of golf, fun, sun and food and drink! Please SAVE the date for August 21, 2015 at Steele Canyon Golf Club and to contact Steve Manson with questions, firstname.lastname@example.org
In the Fall, more than 500 influential and caring San Diegans gather for an evening filled with exciting live and silent auction opportunities, cocktails and horderves, a live musical performance and much more.
The San Diego Celebration of Hope Gala has been recognized as one San Diego’s most entertaining winter events and was recently presented with the “Outstanding Fundraising Event Award” at HDSA’s 2012 National Convention.
