San Diego Chapter
WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US AT OUR ANNUAL EVENTS!
The Team Hope Walk is the Huntington's Disease Society of America's (HDSA's) largest national grassroots fundraising event. Thousands of families, friends, co-workers, neighbors and communities walk together each year to support HDSA's fight to improve the lives of people affected by HD and their families.
Every year, runners and walkers from across the country raise funds and awareness for HDSA through the Tri-City Medical Center Marathon & Half in January, San Diego Half Marathon in March, and the Rock n' Roll Marathon in June.
Since 2002 HDSA-San Diego has put on the town’s best outdoor party, the Shoot to Cure HD!
Guests are treated to food and drinks from more than 20 of San Diego’s favorite eateries, tickets to the Padres game that evening, a commemorative Shoot T-shirt, and moments they’ll never forget.
The highlight of the night is the speed-free-throw competition that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Teams of ten select five of their 10 guests to make as many free throws as possible in three minutes. Sounds simple, right? But as the party grows and beverages are consumed and the crowds gather around, crazy things seem to happen.
TEAM 2 CURE HD GOLF TOURNAMENT
Every year Renato & Sharon Shaffer host their annual golf tournament to raise funds and awareness for HDSA. Sharon, who is HD-positive, Renato, her family and a cadre of dedicated committee members gather to enjoy a day of golf, fun, sun and food and drink!
In the Fall, more than 500 influential and caring San Diegans gather for an evening filled with exciting live and silent auction opportunities, cocktails and horderves, a live musical performance and much more.
The San Diego Celebration of Hope Gala has been recognized as one San Diego’s most entertaining winter events and was recently presented with the “Outstanding Fundraising Event Award” at HDSA’s 2012 National Convention.
