Identification of Imaging Markers in Subjects with Parkinson Disease, Huntington's disease, other movement disorders and healthy controls

The purpose of this study is to determine if FDDNP-PET scans will label abnormal protein accumulation in the brains of 6 patients with Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease or other movement disorders.

You are eligible to participate in this study if you meet the following criteria: (I) male or female over 18 yrs of age; (2) diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, other movement disorder, or are a healthy control subject; (3) are able to provide informed consent. Roughly 100 patients will take part in this study. The study requires 2-3 visits and is repeated annually.

If you agree to participate, the first study visit will include obtaining your medical and family history as well as a neurological examination. Also, if you have or are at risk for Huntington's disease and have not yet had a genetic test, a genetic test for HD will be performed. You will then undergo a FDDNP-PET scan. This study visit will last approximately 1-3 hours.

The FDG-PET scan and MRI are normally performed during the
second visit; however, scheduling availability may require a third visit to complete both exams. This visit should last approximately 1-3 hours. If interested, you may be asked to participate again every 1-2 years.

To determine if you are eligible to participate and for further information, please  contact Dr. Yvette Bordelon (310-206-4318) or Curtis Thiede (310-206-3356).
