What is an HDSA research Champion?

Research Champions are volunteers with a passion for the power of research.  They can be HD patients, family members, caregivers or even medical professionals who believe that increased participation in clinical trials for HD is critical to ensure we find effective treatments for HD in a timely manner and who want to carry that message out to the HD community. Their experience and positive attitude are invaluable.

Research Champions are trained by HDSA annually and provided presentation materials that explain the clinical trial process to enable them to speak about clinical trials at HD events such as educational and support group meetings.

Research Champions are not expected to be experts in the clinical trial process. However, their real-life experience  and personal stories are important to help de-mystify the clinical trial experience.
