Research

HDSA Center of Excellence at UC Davis Medical Center is currently recruiting for the PRE CELL observational study (no intervention). A group of up to 40 patients with early-stage Huntington’s Disease (HD) will be enrolled in this observational trial to establish a baseline and study changes over time in measures of movement, thinking, behavior, brain imaging, blood and spinal fluid markers. The information from the study assessments will help Dr. Wheelock and the research team learn more about the rate of change in these measures in people with early-stage HD. Participants enrolled in this study may be eligible to participate in a future planned study of stem cell therapy for Huntington’s Disease. For information regarding eligibility and to be considered for the study, please contact Terry Tempkin, Nurse Practitioner at 916-734-6278 or teresa.tempkin@ucdmc.ucdavis.edu

Welcome!

Welcome to the homepage of the Huntington's Disease Society of America, Northern California Chapter. We are a chapter of the Huntington's Disease Society of America, a national, not-for-profit voluntary health agency.

The purpose of our chapter is:

•  To help individuals affected by Huntington's Disease and their families through support and services

•   To educate both the public and health care professionals about Huntington's Disease

•  To promote and support research directed at discovering a treatment and ultimately a cure for Huntington's Disease.

While there is still no cure for HD, today there is more hope than ever that we can beat this disease. Until then, our chapter will strive to provide support and sustenance to our HD families, knowing that while research provides hope for the future, we must provide care for our HD community today. We have become an active community, educating ourselves, sharing information, and advocating for ourselves and our loved ones.
