You Can Help Make a Difference

Become an HDSA Advocate

Everyone can help make a difference. Become an HDSA Advocate! There are issues affecting people with Huntington's Disease that must be addressed at a national or state level. They range from Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits to approval of therapeutic drugs for HD (such as Tetrabenazine) or the recently passed Genetic Non Discrimination Act (GINA).

HDSA's Advocacy department needs your help. Each of us can advocate for people and families affected by Huntington's Disease. Whether you are a person with HD, a family member, a healthcare professional, a co-worker or a concerned friend, you can inform your elected and community leaders about the need for greater awareness and resources for people with HD.

By working together, we can ensure that the needs of our community are recognized by people who have the opportunity to shape policy. By coming together with a shared purpose and strong voice, we can educate the public and medical community about issues and concerns that are both unique to HD and yet common to any family suffering from a devastating neurological or genetic illness.

HDSA is committed to educating elected officials and medical and community leaders about the needs of our HD families. With your help we can speak with one voice about important issues such as genetic privacy, patient's rights, affordable access to essential care, disability benefits, increased federal funds for research and protection against genetic discrimination.
