Central Florida Affiliate
My name is Marilyn M. McCloskey I am the President of the Central Florida Affiliate of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Several years ago my sister passed away from HD. As the Central Florida Affiliate President, I am excited to work with others to raise awareness about Huntington's disease, fundraise at local events, and assist those currently affected by HD. I however cannot do it alone and need YOUR help.
Please join me and MANY others in the FIGHT against HD!
WHY VOLUNTEER OR JOIN OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
To gain leadership, learn a skill, become part of the community, to give back, to be around others, to donate your professional skills, to feel accomplishment, to help out a friend or relative, to be challenged, for fun, to earn academic or professional credit, to build your resume, to have impact, or simply because you care and know what it’s like to have people help you.
Currently we are restructuring our affiliate and are in need of volunteers, and committee members for both the St.Pete/Tampa and Orlando area, in our efforts to gain support for Central and Western FL. Many of those affected by HD have a hard time being able to find the time to be able to get away from their loved ones to be able to volunteer. That is why we need YOU!
SYMPTOMS AND FACTS:
Families watch their loved ones go from perfectly healthy to using a cane, wheelchair, needing a feeding tube, loss of bowel and bladder control, bed ridden until finally they pass. HDSA is the largest voluntary health organization dedicated to fighting Huntington’s disease. HD research helps fuel the research needed to cure these diseases.
